NORTH BAY, ON – TWG Communications is very pleased to announce they have been awarded the prestigious Design Edge Canada Award for their work on the ʻGiving Treeʼ, a donor recognition sculpture, at the Harris Learning Library.

The Harris Learning Library is a joint Nipissing University and Canadore College facility located in North Bay, Ontario.

“This is an absolutely stunning building”, said Theo Margaritis brand strategist and partner at TWG. “We were awarded the contract to work on interior and exterior signage and to design a donor recognition wall.”

When the TWG creative team toured the new building, their first impressions were that any donor recognition structure needed to be a spectacular element that would standout and yet respect the impressive architecture of the new facility.

“Our team took numerous images of the atrium of the library and considered several design options including the one for which we won the award,” said TWG Communications account project lead Donna Backer.

The winning design was devised as a stylized tree made of metal with an engineered wood trunk rising two stories from the slate floor. Visitors are naturally drawn to the piece where donor names are prominently displayed in various contribution categories.

The committee immediately saw our vision as an artistic piece,” said Yan Roberts, project Art Director. “The way the sculpture brings life to the space creates a unique way to thank donors and honour them with more than just two dimensions or a plaque. Giving thanks, recognition and appreciation becomes a focal point.”

The Design Edge Canada Awards are dedicated to recognizing best in class submissions across Canada. This year, Design Edge recognized the works of some of the largest agencies in the business and TWG is thrilled to be in such company.

“We are proud to be associated with industry trendsetters and it is an honour to be recognized along side such agencies. Our work always strives to put our clients first in their respective fields and the Harris Learning Library project is a prime example,” said Margaritis.
