Today, consumers rely on the Internet as a primary source of information. Therefore it is imperative that organizations have engaging, informative, easily navigable websites that aid the viewer in finding the information they seek in a short timeframe. For The Strategic Tourism Development and Marketing Partnership for Northern Ontario*, this meant the creation of the Northern Web Portal. This portal would supply fresh and timely visitor information from across Northern Ontario allowing visitors to see the best the north has to offer.

With 17 content providers and all content requiring translation, TWG Communications was tasked with developing a portal foundation to not only support the structure, but to assure continuously percolating content throughout, thus giving each provider equal access to the market.  The portal would require a complex matrix of interconnected information providing visitors with a comfortable way to learn about Northern Ontario tourism options and to be driven directly to individual sites.


TWG developed the architecture of the site and then constructed a visually stunning and interactive interface encouraging visitors to click directly through to the sites of the content providers.  TWG developed portal guidelines, conducted training seminars and established a dedicated help desk.


Success on this project is still being measured as analysis is ongoing and TWG continues to work closely with the client to ensure the site is meeting intended and evolving communication objectives.  As the Northern Web Portal continues to increase market share, all stakeholders are confident its success will translate into increased traffic online and on the ground.
